What are the fashion cities? And what is the global fashion capital?

Obviously, it is Paris, with which Milan has always contended the primacy of undisputed queen, but, talking about Italy, it is also Rome and Florence…

If then, we expand the view worldwide, it is also New York, London, Dubai, Tokyo, Barcelona…

In addition to the actual clothing area, “Fashion Week” involves numerous sectors connected to it: the tourism, catering, transport…
This opportunity, from an economic point of view, is very important both locally and nationally, because this sector has a strong impact on GDP.

Just to think that the tourism sector connected to the “Fashion Week” of Milan in 2018 produced 19 million euros. Furthermore, this event involved around 19 thousand businesses in the city, with a strong appeal for employment and an annual turnover of around € 10 billion, only in Milan (about € 60 billion at national level).

The title of “Capital of Fashion” is therefore not only a recognition but a real market appeal.

In fact, let us not forget, that “Fashion” does not refer only to the clothing and footwear sector but to everything that is trendy:

• Luxury items;
• Accessories;
• Household appliances;
• Cars;
• Everything that creates a new current.

The Fashion Cities are centres with an important axis and a strong concentration of companies working in this sector. But that’s not enough, because it also requires investing, providing for the courses of study related to this sector: high schools, university courses, etc., in addition to the indispensable presence of numerous stylists and designers.

And in Milan, in this sense, nothing is really missing!

Whether Milan is the world fashion capital or not, it is one of the most important reference cities of the sector and it owes it to the great Maison born in the immediate post-war period and to the great industrial concentration which allowed it to develop the compartment.

Stylists like Valentino, Armani, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana (just to name some) expressed their creativity and achieved notoriety starting from Milan.

At Amazon Fashion week Tokyo fashion always reaches unexpected levels: creativity and originality are the keywords.
It is coordinated by the Japan Fashion Week organization and the next appointment will take place from the 16th to the 21st of October at Shibuya Hikarie and at the Omotesando Hills in the heart of Tokyo.

The Modest Fashion Week has reached its fifth edition and has established itself as a globally recognized event.
It is a real journey that brings together stylists from many countries: United Arab Emirates, Australia, Singapore, United States, Canada, India, Russia, Jordan, Maldives, Netherlands, Indonesia, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Malaysia and Estonia.
The event was held in March 2019 and we are waiting for the dates for the next appointment.
