EGYPT IS AT THE TOP AGAIN

TOURISM IN EGYPT: THE ITALIANS RETURN TO THE RED SEA HOLIDAYS OR INCENTIVE TRIPS

For years Egypt has been one of the most favourite destinations for Italians for their holidays and for companies for the organization of their conventions or team building trips.
And it is quite obvious why:

  • The charm of the history of the Ancient Egypt and the richness of its unique archaeological finds;
  • a beautiful sea;
  • one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world with fish of all shapes and colours;
  • guaranteed sun and hot weather;
  • an excellent quality/price ratio both from a tourism point of view and within MICE and incentive;
  • the proximity of the destination in terms of flight hours (from 3H30min to about 4 hours depending on the airport of departure and destination).

Then, the crisis. The unstable political situation and the security problems have literally washed away the Italian tourism (and not only!), cancelling the numerous charter flights that every year brought thousands of tourists to the country.

But today, finally, the situation seems to be quieter and Sharm El Sheik, Hurgada and Marsa Alam are back again among the most preferred destinations by Italian and international tourism.
This is confirmed by the numbers of presences registered during 2018: 11,346,393 international tourists with a +65% compared to 2017. And reservations for 2019 indicate exponential growth compared to the 2018 data.

The whole of Egypt is living the phase of a clear recovery; not only the Red Sea, but also the Classic Egypt with the cruses on the Nile and the visits to Luxor and Aswan, and also the Egypt of the Mediterranean Sea with Marsa Matrouh and El Alamein.

The Tour Operator, which had “abandoned” the destination returned to invest in the reception facilities with new resorts and greater allotment and charter private flights.

The forecasts promise data comparable to the pre-crisis period and this is a clear sign of confidence in the destination, with many repeaters eager to return to dive into the wonderful crystal-clear waters, both on Red Sea and that of the Mediterranean.

On the other hand, Egypt has always been a destination much loved by the Italians and for a long time established a tourist market of great importance for the whole chain, from tour operator to travel agencies, from airline companies to those who, like us, organizes charter flights.

And if the recovery is confirmed as regards the holidays of the Italians, it also becomes a re-launch of the destination for the incentive trips and the organization of business meetings.

It is not difficult to find excellent structures in Egypt, both on the sea and in the big cities like Cairo or Alexandria of Egypt, but we like to think that if an incentive travel is organized in this country, it is also done with the aim of offering guests moments of pleasant relaxation under the sun and the possibility of putting their heads underwater to admire the colourful fish.

There are numerous solutions which range from accommodation both in the tourist village and in the luxury hotels.

Some examples?

We at That Aviation Italia are very fond of Egypt and we are the repeaters of this destination. Like everyone, we had to put on stand-by projects and charter flights due to the difficult situation that the country was experiencing. Today, we are really happy to see its final recovery both as a holiday and as a business trips destination.
